Lunchtime Walks Clifton
As Bristol moves from Spring into Summer, there’s no excuse for not getting out of the office at lunchtime for a little stroll round the neighbourhood. Luckily for those of us who work around Clifton, we‘re spoilt for choice! We’ve put together some of our favourite lunchtime walks in Clifton – perfect for our Square Works members looking to get their steps in over lunch.
Brandon Hill
It’s right on our doorstep and has some gorgeous views over the city. There’s also loads of wildlife – scampering squirrels, birds flitting around and the flowerbeds are filled with colour. Perfect for a chance to unwind in Nature. Brandon Hill is always busy with people relaxing at this time of year – why not go and join them?
Clifton Suspension Bridge
Why not cross the bridge and visit another county in your lunch break? If you’re tight for time, there’s still plenty to enjoy on this side of the Gorge – lots of greenery and stunning views of the bridge and the Avon below. Even better – there are loads of delis you can pick up a little treat from to eat on the grass. We’ve even put together a list of our favourite spots
Clifton Village
A relaxing walk doesn’t just mean surrounding yourself in greenery – sometimes it can be just as refreshing to amble around in a lovely environment – and where’s better for that than Clifton Village itself? Potter in and around the little boutique shops, enjoy a coffee in the sunshine or grab a bite on Boyce’s Avenue – transport yourself far from the working day!
Victoria Square
While not big enough to walk around (unless you do laps), there’s still something to be said for just sitting and relaxing in this elegant square. It’s a great place for people-watching as it’s on a major route to the village and there are always plenty of groups sitting around – whether its students revising in the sunshine or dog walkers having a break as their pooches play.
Soak up some culture
Even if it’s raining it’s still possible to get away from it all. Clifton is home to two of the city’s best art galleries. Visit the Egyptians at the Bristol Museum or enjoy one of the exhibitions at the newly re-opened Royal West of England Academy.
